ArtPrize 100th Artist
100th Artist Secured!
July 9th, 2009
Today, the 100th artist was secured for ArtPrize (as of this posting there are 101). The 100th artist is a “they.” Two collaborators–Amy Nack and Earle Swope–from Boise, ID are doing a work in paper for San Chez Tapas Bistro connecting directly to the Spanish theme of the restaurant. Excerpted from artprize.org:

Immigrant Shadows: Tracing the Herder’s Legacy (2008)
3-D, paper

The matching of venue and artist was obvious to both as a serendipitous convergence of space and art. “Immigrant Shadows” brings the story of the immigrant sheepherder out of the aspen grove and into the gallery. The partnership between the artists and San Chez Restaurant brings the art out of the gallery and into life where people work, play and love. Many of the sheepherders are of Basque or South American descent making the Spanish link between San Chez and the artwork apparent. The scents and flavors of San Chez’s culinary delights intermingle with the viewers visual as they experience the “grove” resulting in a complete celebration of the immigrant. The artists are thrilled to transform the entire entry of San Chez into a mountain aspen grove.
